|October is Power Smart Month!
Did you know that :
- Building energy use contributes to approximately 59% of the City’s total energy consumption.
- Energy use in building represents 40% of the City’s total GHG emissions, while on-road transportation (55%) and solid waste (5%) contribute to the rest of the City’s emissions.
- Energy consumption directly contributes to Greenhouse Gas emissions through the combustion of fossil fuels.
This month, we challenge you to reduce your energy use and raise awareness on the impacts of energy consumption among your friends and family. Follow the City’s website, Tweeter and Facebook for tips to green your life, home and workplace.
You can also take action today! There are a lot of programs available to help you take action in reducing your energy consumption with rebates and incentives. You might just find out that saving energy is not only good for the planet, but good for your wallet! Learn more about the various programs below.
The City of Port Moody has also been actively managing our own corporate energy consumption and has made some great achievements in 2013. Learn more about our work here.
